Marshalltown and Genevieve's 1st Birthday!

Sorry it has been so long to post anything. Last weekend Scott, the kids and I went to Marshalltown Iowa for a job interview. They really rolled out the red carpet for us. First of all they paid for our plane tickets. The flights went well. The kids slept most of the time. We had a slight delay in Chicago but isn't that always the way it is in Chicago. When we arrived in Des Moines there was a driver waiting for us. It was nice not having to drive. We put a movie in the dvd player for Grisham and sat back and relaxed. We arrived at the Tremont hotel with open arms. The owners of the hotel/restaurant were waiting for us. They showed us to our amazing room. We had two Queen sized beds and they were nice enough to set up a play pen for Genevieve. After settling in we went down to the Tremont Grille for lunch. If anyone is in the Marshalltown area I highly recommend all Tremont restaurants. After lunch we went back to the room to rest. Scott and Genevieve slept but Grisham and I did not. Now, both Grisham and Genevieve were not feeling well. Grisham woke up that morning with a fever. My parents were going to come up from Altoona to babysit the kids. We had dinner with the partners that night. When they arrived I convinced then to take the kids back to Altoona for the night. They needed some serious rest. They thought that was a great idea and packed them up and headed out. Side note here. This was the first time I had ever been away from Genevieve and the second for Grisham. The first time was when I gave birth to Genevieve and I was only gone for 24 hrs. I was so thankful that we were busy non stop or I would have had a really hard time. Dinner was wonderful. We went to the country club for dinner. Beautiful!! We met with the partners and their wives. Friday morning we were up early and went to breakfast to meet the medical director and the bank manager. After breakfast it was one meeting after another. I met up with the wives for a tour of the town and lunch while Scott was back at the clinic talking business. We eventually got a break and went to see Scott's parents, sister Heather and family. It was very nice of then to travel over to see us. Grisham and Genevieve stayed with my parents one more night. Once again we met the partners for dinner. Saturday morning we met with a realtor and saw a few houses. We also went on a tour of the YMCA. It had to be the nicest Y I have ever seen. After the tour we had our wrap up meeting with the partners. It was the busiest 48 hrs I have ever had. It was a great time and we really do like the town very much. Now we just wait.
Saturday night we had a birthday party for Genevieve. Her birthday was on the 19th but since we would be traveling all day we decided to have it earlier on Saturday. My parents, sister Sarah and her husband Joshua, Scott's sister Heather and husband Dan and their kids, Cali and Gavin and some friends from college showed up. After dinner we sat down to sing Happy Birthday to Genevieve. We thought that she would dive right in the cake but actually she did not like it at all. She gaged on it actually. It was a great time seeing our family and missed those who could not make it.
Sunday was another day of travel. It was raining so our flight to Chicago was delayed. When we finally arrived in Chicago around 4:55 we called the 1-800 number to see what time the Columbus flight was leaving. Originally it was to leave at 4:25 but everything was backed up due to weather. The operator said it was to leave at 5:00. That meant we had five minutes to unload get our stroller and run 19 gates to make our flight. We had to get on it because the next flight to Columbus wasn't until 3:00 the next day and Scott was on call. Luckily the flight was delayed another 15 minutes so we were able to make it. We arrived home a little before 8 but our luggage did not. The airline had to deliver it later that night. It was a short trip but well worth it. I was so happy to see my family and hopefully we will be able to make a decision on where to move to.
