Thanksgiving and Parents

Sorry it has been so long to post this. It has taken me two days to compose this blog. Grisham has been sick these last few days so I have been unable to finish anything that I start. I think this is my fourth attempt to post. What a week we had. My parents came out from Iowa to spend Thanksgiving with us. They arrived last Saturday and just left this morning. Both Grisham and Genevieve enjoyed having grandma and papa around. Scott and I took advantage of having free babysitting and went out almost every night. We went to see two movies ( Twilight and Role Models) and we went to a get together at an attendings house. It was nice to have that time together. Oh and Scott was on vacation for the week. I had half the week off. Thursday we had the Clearfields and Woods over for dinner. My mom made a spectacular feast with all the yummy things like stuffing, turkey, butter horns and of course PIE! Jessica brought a yummy peanut and chocolate dessert that was to die for and Michelle Wood introduced me to Mimosa(?). We had fun visiting and watching the Cowboys kick butt on tv. We ended the night with good conversation around the fire pit. We are so thankful for our family and the friends that we have gotten to know in the last four years.

Wild About Wildlights

We are wild about wildlights. This was our first year to attend and thought it was great. We went to see the lights on Sunday night. We were prepared for a full parking lot and lots of people but we were pleasently surprised to see not very many people. I think it was the perfect night to go. My parents really enjoyed walking around the zoo looking at the amazing lights. We did see a few animals. My dad had never seen a manatee so we had to stop by and say hello to Stubby and Holly. We stopped at one of the cafes and ate hotdogs and thawed our frozen noses. Good fun was had by all!!

A Toy For All To Share

For some reason the exersaucer is a popular toy for all the kids. I can understand why the babies love it but can you tell me why the big kids love it too?

It's Snowing

I woke up to snow this morning. To tell you the truth I was very happy to see the big white flakes falling from the sky. I know that the dogs love the snow the most in this family. So far they have been outside most of the morning running around chasing the flakes. I am sure that it will all be gone by this afternoon. I hope this early snow fall means a white winter instead of a dreary gray one.

It's Cold!

It really has turned cold here. Now some may think that it's not that cold and compared to Iowa cold it really is not that cold. But if you know me, anything under 75 degrees is cold. The kids were climbing the walls today so we decided to bundle up and head outside for some fun in the leaves. Grisham and Sophia had fun playing with the cars and running in the leaves. Little Sophia could barely see out of her enormous hat and large coat. I practically had to glue Grisham's hat on. If it was up to him he would not wear a coat or hat. I can not get him to wear gloves. The babies seemed to enjoy being outsside for a few minutes too. I knew that we wouldn't be out to long. Soon three of the four were crying because it was cold, so we headed inside.

What's Wrong With This Pic

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I always fix something yummy like pancakes, waffles or scrambled eggs. Very rarely do we have cereal. Although I do love cereal too. I think it was funny when my two year old turned his nose up at the waffles and scrambled eggs I made this morning. So I ask him "Grisham what would you like for breakfast?" He responds "Carrots, please". To top it off he has even asked for plain lettuce. Is my son funny or what?

Just To Make You Smile

I have a bunch of photos of the kids being silly, playing and hanging out. Scott and Grisham in the chair talking to Papa Jay. Genevieve on the floor playing with her blankie. Sophia LOVING her mac and cheese. Brenner hanging out in the bouncy. Grisham and Sophia "sharing" the chair. Grisham in his new hide out...the book shelf. And finally, Grisham got this batman head for trick or treating next year. All Halloween stuff 50% off :) For now it is his new car carrying case. This thing goes everywhere with him. It sits with him in the chair and it goes to bed with him too.

Facebook

I have recently discovered Facebook. I must admit that I am totally addicted to it. At first I wasn't sure about how to work it and I kinda thought it was silly since I have a blog. Now I love it just as much as my blog. What I love most about it is the ability to reconnect with friends from the past. I just found two friends that I went to jr high and freshman year with. I often wonder about my friends that I left behind in Kansas. So any way I love all the quizes you can take and games to be played. Someone even sent me a farm animal. So now I have a farm to manage but i haven't completely figured that all out. I really like the flair too. I could spend ages going through all the flair. I am totally amazed with the way we interact now. Gone are the days of letter writing. Texting and facebooking seem to be the way to connect with those we care about.

Birthday Weekend

It is official. I am definitely closer to thirty now. One more year of my twenties and then on to the next decade of my life. This past decade has definitely topped them all. I mean I don't really remember my first decade, maybe bits and pieces of half. The second decade was full of ups and downs. The decade of my twenties I was able to live out my dream of becoming a firefighter, met and married the man of my dreams and so far have had two beautiful kids that light up my life. If life is like a great wine then bring it on, this next decade should be mind blowing. Any way, like I said my sister flew out here on Friday to surprise me. We went trick or treating that night and stayed up too late talking. Saturday morning I woke with the kids and made my birthday muffins (thanks Mary, they were awesome). We had a nice quite morning playing with the kids and then Sarah, the kids and I went out and did some shopping. Lately I have been getting the horrible migraines again. I have had two in the last week and maybe one that has been border line. I used to be used to them so it was something I put up with, but during my pregnancies and after I have not had many. I really don't want to get to a point where I am used to them again. So, I felt one coming on Saturday. I got my medicine in me in time and felt great the rest of the day. Saturday night we went to a movie. Since it was MY birthday I picked the movie and I wanted to see Fireproof again. Scott really did like it, he said it was a lot better than he thought it to be. After the movie we went to a Halloween party. Sarah and I dressed as matching witches, except she wore a mini skirt and heals and I wore jeans and went barefoot. Scott was supposed to be a hoodlum that was attacked by his baby-mama but we forgot the costume at home. Scott put it on, minus the bloody t-shirt, so I could get a picture of him with the knife and his cool tatts. I would have been so much better with it all put together. Maybe next year. We were home before midnight and asleep shortly after. After all, I knew that Grisham didn't care about the time change so he would be up at five ready to go for the day. Sarah left on Sunday morning and the rest of the day was spent hanging out at home with the family. It really was a great way to kick of the last year of the decade.

Trick Or Treat

Trick or treating was a blast. The Elliott's came over to walk around our neighborhood with us. Grisham and Greg did so well collecting their candy. Grisham was a little leery of the kids wearing scary costumes but over all he did a lot better than what I thought. Greg couldn't get to the houses fast enough. He is a trick or treating pro. My sister Sarah had the honor of carring little piglet (Genevieve) around. I couldn't believe how many people offered her candy. She is only six months old people. Leah was adorible in her pumpkin fairy costume. She was pretty sleepy so Eric carried her from door to door. The night was a success. The kids got way too much candy and the weather was gorgeous.
