Trouble

We are experiencing some trouble with either the computer or my camera memory card. For some reason the pictures are not down loading correctly. I have a ton of pictures to post but until we get this glitch fixed my blog will be inactive. I am working on it.

Happy Birthday Genevieve

Two years ago today Genevieve Elizabeth Ascherin Hinze was born. I think her first two years went so much faster than Grisham's. She was a newborn and then bam a toddler and now she is two. There are many words to describe her. Fiery, independent, sweet, fashionista are just a few. Some of her favorite things to do are play with her baby dolls, eat, eat and did I mention eat. I swear she has a hollow leg. She is extremely curious about everything. I am constantly finding her getting into something. She loves her brother and sister very much. Genevieve is a true daddy's girl. I can't describe the love I have for her. She is amazing little girl and I am so blessed to be her mommy.
Saturaday we had her party. We invited a few friends over for some hotdogs and cake. It was very chilly outside but the kids didn't seem to mind it at all. They jumped on the trampoline, played on the swingset, bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Soon it was cake time and boy did Genevieve enjoy her cake. She got it everywhere. I caught Grisham going into the living room to open Genevieve's presents a few times. He was just trying to be a good big brother by helping. Wink Wink!! I think it was a great party and we have some great memories.

Day off

I had an unplanned day off yesterday. So we went up to the zoo for the morning to see the animals. Since I started to watch three kids plus with my own three it makes it very difficult to get out and do stuff with the kids. As soon as I found out that I would have no extra kids I made plans for the day. I was a little sad that we could not find any friends available to join us but we were not going to let that stop us from going out. We went to see the snakes of course, stopped by the flamingos and manatees. Then headed over to Australia to see the kangaroos and koalas. It was such a beautiful sunny day I think I could have stayed all day but by noon the kids were so tired I was pushing all three on the stroller. My backside got a work out!! I have been craving Bob Evans pancakes so we went there for lunch. Genevieve loves to wear my sunglasses. I call her Hollywood when she wears them. Isn't she just glamorous. After a nice lunch went home for some much needed naps.

A few days ago we got our trampoline. It was a surprise for the kids. When Scott's parents were hers after Carolyn was born we went up to Rainbow play systems for some fun indoor play. Scott had a chance to jump on the spring less trampoline and he decided that we would get one this spring. In March there was a great sale on them so I bought one and they installed it on Monday. We have had a blast on it.

Easter

Happy Easter everyone!! I think Easter is my favorite holiday, at least when it comes down to the real meaning. I also struggle the most with this holiday. Like Christmas it has a whole bunch of secular traditions attached. I love those traditions just as much as the next guy but I don't want to forget the true meaning for celebration, Jesus Christ. Since having kids I have been tempted to rid the holidays of the secular traditions and have the kids and I focus on the true meanings but after a lot of thought I figured I could balance them just like my parents did. So we did the Easter baskets and candy from the Easter bunny. The Easter bunny came to our house yesterday during nap time. Both Grisham and Genevieve were eggcited about their baskets. Not too much candy, a couple books and a new toy. Not fancy but again I want them to remember the real meaning. Scott is on call today so our celebration dinner will be at the hospital. Oh, the life of a surgeon. I hope everyone has a great day and remembers the true reason for this special day. HE IS RISEN!!
(I also added some pictures of Genevieve holding Carolyn and Grisham found some worms and had to share them with me)
