Bluejackets

Last night Scott and I were able to get out and enjoy another date night. Thursday Scott was given two tickets to the Bluejackets game. I was not so optimistic about being able to find a sitter at such short notice. Thankfully our friend Nita Smith volunteered her time. Neither Scott nor I have ever been to a professional hockey game so we were both excited. Back home in Iowa we had a farm team called the Bucs and enjoyed those games very much but this is the big leagues so we had high hopes. We arrived about 30 min early, found our nosebleed seats and settled in. Now I don't know much about hockey at least the technical rules. Scott knows a little more so we were lost a few times during the game. The Jackets played the Ducks (who I guess is supposed to be the worst in the league). The first period was quite exciting. Two big fights broke out and it was a constant back and forth with so many close but no cigar shots at the goals. The first halftime was fun. The future Jackets played a few minutes of hockey and entertained all. The kids were just too darn cute and looked incredibly small out on that huge rink. Second period not so good. The jackets were falling apart and that is pretty much what the rest of the game was like. At one point the Ducks had two players in the penalty box so it was 5 on 3 and the Jackets still could not come close to making a goal. So frustrating. We ended up leaving a few minutes early to beat the crowd. The game was over before it was over. We did have a great time together but so thankful that we did not have to pay for the tickets.
