Papa Carol and grandbabies

I have been meaning to post some pictures of my moms visit here a week ago. The two weeks that she spent here went way way to fast. I am amazed at how much was accomplished in that time. Not only did she take the night shift with Genevieve but she built our beautiful steps, built Scott some shelves in the garage, cleaned the garage, fixed our toilet, painted my half bath, did my laundry, baby sat so we could go out on dates, helped the kids with a fantastic father's day present and helped me out with the babies while I had a few doctors appointments. I hope I didn't forget anything. Oh, and one more thing. She always cleaned the kitchen after dinner. I hate doing dishes. Not only was she a great help but I love having her around. We talk about everything. It is so funny. Whenever she comes to visit I always tend to fall back into the mommy daughter role. It is hard to explain. I guess no matter how old you get you always feel the same. I feel the same as I did when I was ten or fifteen or even twenty. I don't know if that makes sense but she will always be my mom and I will always be her little girl. Now that I have a daughter I hope to have the same kind of relationship. I also hope to pass to Genevieve the love of being a wife and a mom, just as my mom passed to me. I love my mom so much. Thanks for being a great role model.

Boom Boom Boom

Last night was a very scary night here in Columbus. We had a tornado warning. At 11:45 I woke to the sound of the sirens. I always wondered whether we would be able to hear the sirens at night. Well I sure can. Anyway, I woke Scott and we looked out our bedroom window, which faces south. Nothing. Then we went into Genevieve's room which faces north. I kid you not. This was the most scary ominous lightening I have ever seen. I swear I saw a funnel cloud. We turned the tv on and the storm was just north of us in Hilliard. I think the one thing that frightened me the most was the stillness of everything. The storm quickly moved east leaving a ton of rain and lots of wind. I couldn't go back to sleep after it past. The thunder and lightening kept me awake most of the night. I kept thinking to myself "Can we get the kids and dogs into the basement if a tornado really did hit us?" So no sleep for me. Believe it or not both kids slept through the whole storm. Lucky me, we are to have repeat storms tonight.

Frilly Dress

As you all probably know, I am not a girly girl. Before Genevieve I really did not like the idea of frilly dresses on my daughter. Then I saw this dress at the store and I knew that she would be absolutely adorable in it. I could not pass it up. This is Genevieve's first frilly dress and definitely not the last.

Happy Birthday Diane!!

Happy Birthday to my dear friend Diane. I hope you had a great day turning 28. I am so happy that you were able to spend it with your family. Chris will be home soon and you will have more reason to celebrate. I can't help but think of the day we became friends 18 years ago. I love you so very much. I hope to see you this summer before you return to China. Lotsa love!!!

Blacberries

Grisham has discovered a blackberry tree/bush in our back yard. My mom tasted them to make sure that they were ok to eat. They seem fine. Both Grisham and the dogs like to snack on them.

New Steps

My mom is a jack of all things. She is very handy at just about anything that needs to be fixed, built, unclogged or painted. Just yesterday she built us our new steps for our patio. She took some measurements and came up with the design and voila, we have steps. Thanks Mom, they are beautiful!!

Zoo, Playing Around, Sleepy Time

We finally got to the zoo on Saturday. We attempted to go on Friday but got rained out. Mom had never been to the Columbus Zoo. She wanted to see the gorillas and the monkeys. Grisham of course wanted to see Nemo ( all fish are Nemo). The day urned out perfect for the zoo. Not too hot and partly sunny. I hope we will have time to go again this week. After the zoo we went to lunch and Grisham fell asleep.
Sunday we were able to sit on our patio. Grisham loves to play with the chunks of concrete and the rocks left behind by the landscapers. We enjoyed a nice dinner out side on the patio.
Genevieve is growing like a weed. She is getting chunk on her legs and her cheeks are really starting to fill out. I can't believe she is two months old now.

Patio

Our patio is finished. Last Wednesday the contractor came by to confirm measurements and placement of the patio and Thursday the work was started. Grisham had a blast running from the front of the house to the back watching the front loader do its work. The workers were here about two and a half hours and then left. Thursday night we got about three inches of rain so on Friday when they showed up to work the yard was a mess. The front loader ripped up the side yard. All the grass is gone and all that is left mud and concrete. After the landscapers got to work they finished the whole patio in three hours. We are so happy with the end result. We do, however, have a lot of work to do to fix the damage done by the front loader.

House of Mayhem

The title of our blog should be House of Mayhem. By the end of the day I am so tired. I love that my mom is here for two weeks. She is taking the night shift with Genevieve. I think it will take a few more days of sleeping all night to recoup the sleep that I have lost over the last seven weeks. Any way in my busy day I have snapped a few shots of the kids in their natural habitat. Evan and Sophia playing. Grisham running out side and finding ants. And of course sweetie Genevieve holding her head up high.

Raspberries

Grisham woke from his nap with a fever. I think he is getting molars. He wasn't feeling well and he wanted his daddy. So Scott and Grisham sat in the rocker and enjoyed some raspberries. Grisham is not too fond of them so he fed them to daddy. He is so sweet.

Air Force Museum

This past weekend we went to the Air Force museum in Dayton. I highly recommend it for a family day trip. We had a great time seeing all the planes and helicopters from all the wars. They have three or four gigantic hangers full of real airplanes. Grisham had a blast running around and Scott loved the history. We didn't have time to see it all so we plan on going back sometime this summer. The best part was that it was free admission. We did see the fighter pilot Imax movie. That was amazing. Grisham did a great job sitting in his own seat. He was in awe over the size of the screen and the cool, fast airplanes. The hour drive was worth it. Cheap and fun!!
