Helping In The Yard
Last night Scott decided to trim the trees in the back yard. It has become such a pain to mow because of the low hanging branches. After he was finished Grisham decided to gather the branches all together. Some of the branches were 2-3 times his size. Our kind neighbor said that he would haul the branches away for us. We just needed to get them over the fence. Grisham tried with all his might to get a branch over the fence. We thought it was very funny. He wanted to help daddy! While we were gathering branches Papa Jay called. Grisham wanted to talk to his papa but didn't want to slow down so he walked around the yard talking and working.

Slate Run Living Historical Farm
Saturday Scott and I took the kids to a historical living farm. It truly was like stepping back into the 1880's. The workers all dressed, cooked and worked like the 1800's. We toured the farm house, which totally reminded me of my in-laws house. The women were busy in the kitchen making lunch. I think the made biscuits and gravy from scratch of course. No Pillsbury dough boy here. The men were outside plowing a field. Tough stuff!! We saw the old smoke house and root cellar. The garden was lush with fresh veggies. The barn was amazing. They even had a new born baby calf. The calf scared Grisham when it mooed while he was petting it. Kinda funny. I guess he has never really heard a cow moo up close and personal. After the barn we went over to see the pigs. Yuck yuck! They smelled awful. I stayed in the barn long enough just to get a few pictures. I don't think I will ever become a pig farmer. Of all the neat things we got to see I think my favorite was the tree swing. We had a wonderful day together and spending just a few hours observing the past makes me more appreciative of the modern conveniences we have today.

Lila's Birthday Party
Saturday afternoon we went to Lila Ross' birthday party. The weather forecast was a bit iffy. We were supposed to get rain almost all day. Thank God for holding off the rain. We arrived a few minutes early, I knew we wouldn't be able to stay longer than an hour. Grisham went off to play. The Ross' have an awesome back yard, trampoline and everything. We enjoyed yummy hamburgers and hot dogs right off the grill. Grisham hardly took time to eat, although he did manage to eat a birthday cookie. The cookies were so cute. He ate it before I could get a picture of it. Genevieve was being a little cranky. Shortly after one we had to call it quits. Genevieve had enough and was ready to go home for a nap. I didn't realize how tired Grisham was until we got in the car. He fell asleep while we were waiting for this incredibly long train by our house. It was a fun party and I was so happy to meet a lot of Erin's family. What a blessing to have so much family close by! Happy Birthday Lila!
