36 Weeks

I just had my 36 week doctors appointment. Good news. I am dilated to 1 1/2 centimeters. A good start. The plan is to induce labor on the 19th or 20th. Normally I would just wait it out until the baby comes on its own but with Scott's crazy schedule and also not having family around makes inducing more attractive. Scott was able to arrange vacation the 21-25. So he will be by my side when the baby is born. The doctor says that everything looks good and he has no problem inducing a week early. Grisham's birth went so well I hope this one is similar. I am now getting nervous about the birth. My friend Diane said that she was more scared the second time around because she knew what was going to happen. Now that the birth is looming before me I am a little nervous. I am comforted in knowing that both Scott and my mom will be present at the birth. My dad and sister Sarah will happily wait outside the room during the birth. Scott's parents will come out a few days after the baby is born and then I have five whole weeks of maternity leave. I am so excited to have that time with my family.

Sampson

About two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of babysitting a fantastic dog named Sampson. He is a five year old yellow English Lab. He weighs maybe 100lbs or so. I think he may even be a bigger "baby"than Carly. Sampson's mom, Judy, went on a trip to Germany and planned for him to stay at a Pet Palace. I babysit for Judy's grandson Evan and knew that I love dogs, especially labs. So she dropped him off one day as trial run and all three dogs got along so well. The ten days that Sampson was here were so much fun. It never really seemed like we had three big dogs. I think he even dubbed Janey his girlfriend. Sampson followed her around the house and was always trying to get her to play. He became the watch dog for the family. He usually sleeps with his mom in her bed but we tried that one night and I didn't sleep so well with one covers hog (Scott) and another bed hog (Sampson). So he ended up sleeping in the hall way in between our bed room and Grishams. When my mom was here I think she had the pleasure of Sampson the bed hog. See the thing I learned was once he was asleep, there is NO moving him. He was an absolute joy to have around and we look forward to the chance to babysit him again.

Birthday Boy

Grisham is now officially two years old. The 24th was the big day. I still can't believe that he is two. We didn't do much on the day but had a great party the weekend before. My mom was in town to paint the nursery. It looks great mom!! Thanks for all your work. She wouldn't let me do a thing. Pictures of the nursery will be posted at a later date. We have new furniture coming in a couple weeks. Anyway, Eric and Mary Elliott and kids came over for the party. We had pizza, which is Grishams favorite food. I baked a cake in the shape of a race car. Greg and Grisham chased each other all over the living room. Greg helped Grisham open his presents. He got new bath toys from Nana and a new truck. The Elliotts gave him a huge bag full of new books. He totally loves the new books. They have to go with everywhere. Upstairs, downstairs, in the car, EVERYWHERE!! My sister sent a present of farm animal figurines. He loves to line them all up and go down the line making all the animal noises. A cow, pig, rooster, chicken, cat, goat, sheep yellow and black lab and horse. Thanks Auntie Sarah!! The party wound down for the night around nine and the birthday boy could wait to get to the tub to play with his new presents. He had a great time.

So Sorry!

Hey everyone! I am so sorry that I have not updated the blog in weeks. Plenty has happened since my last post but I have had a hard time getting around to developing my pics. I don't like to post something without having photos. I think I will be able to pick up my pictures from Sam's club tomorrow after Sophia goes home. I can't wait until we can get a good digital camera. It will make blogging so much easier. So tomorrow evening will be hard core blogging. I just wanted to add one more thing. Happy Birthday to my sweet little boy Grisham. These last two years have been a blessing from up above. I love you so much son!!!

Cars, Grisham and Dogs

Hi fellow blog followers. I hope you all have enjoyed our blog as much as I have. I feel more connected to our friends and family members. I finally had a chance to get pictures of our new cars. Haven't had a chance to get them to the car wash. Now that the snow from our big blizzard (16-20 inches) is melting, I probably won't be able to wash them for a while.
The dogs seem to really like the snow. They love to make new paths all around the yard. They actually want to be outside for a good portion of the day. We are babysitting a dog this week. His name is Samson. He is a 6year old Yellow English Lab. He is beautiful and BIG. He is somewhere around the 100 pound mark. He is such a love and he plays well with our girls. I think it will be great having Samson around.
Grisham loves to wear daddy's surgical caps. He was nice enough to stop his play and smile for a picture. I think we may have another surgeon in the making. What do you think?

Blizzard 2008

The Blizzard of 2008 has come and gone. I guess this is the worst Columbus has seen since 1978. I really didn't think it was that bad but since I am from Iowa and it was like a typical Iowa storm, no big deal. However I am very happy that the storm hit on Friday into Saturday. Otherwise it would have been a big mess on the roads. I snapped some after pictures of the dogs in the back yard and some of our front yard.

COSI

This past weekend we went to COSI ( the science center) with the Elliotts. Here are a few pics of Grisham wearing a doctors coat and trying to eat stuffed corn. This is Leah Elliott and this was her first time to sit in the umbrella stroller. I think she did a great job. Isn't she the sweetest in her pink shirt.

Not too interesting

Not much to report right now. Although I am so happy it is March now. It may still feel and look like winter outside but March just says spring. I am looking forward to warmer days with sunshine. I can't believe that daylight savings is this weekend. I like having more sun in the day but I will really miss that one hour of sleep. Speaking of sleeping. I am not sleeping well at night. I just can't get comfy and the baby moves like non stop. Last night she woke me a few times by giving me great kicks to the ribs. Then on top of that I have to pee every two hours. Now I remember that the last eight weeks of pregnancy seems like two trimesters put together. I think that this month will go by fast. My mom is coming to visit next week and we will put the nursery together. Easter is in March this year and Grisham's second birthday is at the end of the month. Lots to look forward to.
