Just Fun

The kids woke up in pretty good moods today so I decided to take a few pictures. Grisham was trying to be cuddly with Genevieve but she wasn't really liking it. I also got a few of Genevieve walking around. She is walking most of the time now. Grisham liked to run away as I was taking a picture of him. Genevieve wanted to push the buttons. So silly.

Sharing

I caught Grisham and Genevieve sitting on the couch together sharing some chips. I thought it was pretty cute.

Doggy Park

This last weekend we also had the chance to take our hairy girls to a dog park. Our friends Alan and Michelle Wood and their dog Lucy went with us. It was more of a walking trail than a park but definitely plenty of new smells for the dogs. The path was pretty smooth so I could push the stroller. There were a few hills so we all took turns pushing the kids. Grisham did not ride much on the way to the creek but rode most of the time back to the car. Michelle and Alan knew of an off the path route to the creek. I was pretty excited to get the girls in the water. Janey has always loved the water. She is the swimmer, Carly is more of a wader. As soon as we reached the water all three dogs jumped in. Janey did laps, Carly waded around and Lucy loved to fetch sticks. Janey and Carly were very happy with their spur of the moment outing. We had two very happy yet tired dogs on our hands. Oh, did I mention how much they smelled after swimming. Yuck!!

Fun Day

Saturday was full of wonderful family time. Scott and I took the kids to a farmer's market in Bexley. We originally were looking for one in Pickerington but the directions were all crummy and we ended up running into one along the way. We stopped and picked up some corn, green peppers and tomatoes. After the farmer's market we went to lunch at McDonald's then we went to The Big Splash in Grove City. We had never been there before and I was very happy with the layout of the pool. It is so kid friendly. Grisham loved the fountains and the water play areas. They did have a sand area but I didn't want Grisham playing in that. Genevieve really liked the water too. She is going to be a little fish. I had to keep a very close eye on her because she liked to walk to the deeper part of the shallow end. Scott like the slides and swimming in the deep end. We borrowed a life vest so Grisham could float with Scott in the deep end. He thought that was pretty neat. By the time we left both kids were exhausted. Genevieve was falling asleep as I was dressing her! Both kids took great naps. Later Saturday we had some friends over for dinner. It is always so nice to have friends close by and who are willing to hang out on a short notice. It was a fun filled day and I am so happy to have been able to spend it with my family.

Baby Appointment.

Friday afternoon I went to the OB for a check up. My friend Keren came over to watch the kids. Thanks so much Keren!! All went well. I got to hear the heart beat for the first time. One of the most wonderful sounds in the world!! At the last appointment I had a blood draw and the doctor had the results. A few things popped up. First, I found out that I am non immune to Rubella. So after the baby is born I have to be vaccinated for that. Weird! Second, my blood sugar that day was 52. Normal range is like between 60-100. The doctor asked me if I was fasting! No, of course I wasn't but that was earlier in the pregnancy and I was having a lot of trouble keeping anything down. I also found out that I am down another 5 pounds. I already have the doctor nervous but I have tried to reassure her that this is all normal for my pregnancies. She asked that I keep a candy bar on me all the time:) I will go back in two weeks for another blood draw and then September 18, around 20 weeks, I will go in for the ultrasound. I am so excited that the time to find out the sex is almost here. I can't wait to see if my theory is right. That's it for now.

Five Years of Marriage

I can hardly believe that five years ago today Scott and I were married. So much has happened in the years it hardly seems possible that it just five years. It has been an amazing journey and I can't imagine my life any other way. Moving to Ohio shortly after getting married really help us form our foundation. We had no one else to rely on but each other. Our first pregnancy and birth of our son Grisham was a highlight of my life. Shortly after his birth came medical school graduation. I was so proud of him that day!! All his hard work was going to pay off. Little did I know how rough residency would be. Talk about a roller coaster of ups and downs!! Losing the second pregnancy was difficult but I am so glad we had each other. The birth of Genevieve was another highlight. She brings such joy to our growing family. Five years and three moves. From the ghetto of Columbus to the ghetto of Dublin (yes, it does exist) to our cozy home here in Galloway. So many memories and I am excited for the ones to come. Graduating from residency is probably the most anticipated. So so close but years away. Another baby to come early next year. Yippeee! I am so glad that we decided to share our lives together. This is just the tip of the ice berg. Happy Anniversary to the most wonderful man! Thanks for picking me babe!! I love you with all my heart:)

Visiting Iowa

I am back from Iowa. It was a very long trip but a good one. I had lots of good family time. The first week was mostly spent at the hospital with my brother or hanging out at my parents waiting to see if we could go to the hospital to see my brother. He was in a lot of pain after the surgery so we tried to give him some space while he worked through the pain. He was released and sent home with a neck brace and oral pain meds. His two little girls were so excited to get to go home, they hadn't been there since the accident. After he got settled at home we went out to Newton to see him. This was my first opportunity to take a picture. My dad's mom flew into town for a few weeks and this was her first time seeing Noah after the accident. My mom had me get pictures of grandma and her four great grand children and then her four grandchildren. We made sure the visit was short so we didn't stay long. Noah has along road of recovery. Later in the week we were able to go to the zoo, Chuck E Cheese and toured the state capitol. In all the years of living in Iowa I had never been so we thought it would be fun. I can't believe how beautiful it was. We saw the Senate, House of Reps and the Law library. The architecture and paintings were amazing. The kids enjoyed the open space:) Side note: I put up a picture of Iowa's Supreme Court. These are the "wise" men and women who decided to make gay marriage legal! I think it should have been put to a vote by the people but who am I to say. Anyway, later we went to an I-Cubs game. My grandma had never been to a pro or semi pro baseball game before so it was really exciting for her. I love going to baseball games, and the kids seemed to really enjoy it too. Of course we still had to leave a few innings early but it was a great time. The kids were extremely tired and so was I. The rest of the week went by so fast. I tried to fit in as much as possible. I even tried to go golfing with my sister and her husband Joshua but we got rained out:( I was sad to say goodbye to my family but happy to get the kids home to see their daddy. Don't think we will be going on any extended vacations for a while.
Scott's parents were able to come down from Dows to see us. We went to the farmer's market and ate lunch at my sister Lisa's bar. After that Grisham, Heather, Cali, Gavin, Papa Jay and Grandma Betty went to a park to play. Genevieve and I went to my parents house for a much needed nap. Later that day we went to their hotel to go swimming. The water was freezing so Grisham did not want to swim. The other kids did not have a problem with it. At this time in the week my camera was not working so I will have to get the pictures from my father in law. It was a fun filled day and sad to see it end. Jay, Betty and Heather were able to come back to see us off at the airport. It was so nice to have some more time with them.
My mom's dad was also moved that week from the nursing home to a hospice just down the road from where mom and dad live. He was starting to fail and they expected him to pass at any time. He hung in there for over a week but past earlier today. I am so glad that I did get to go home to say my goodbyes. Grisham and Genevieve got the chance to see him and ride on his walker. They are still way to young to understand what was going on so at least they has fun while visiting great grandpa.
So much has happened over the last few weeks and it may take me a while to process it. I just wanted to say thanks to all those who remembered my family in your prayers.
